Interesting place in the Marina, they do well at every meal, breakfast, lunch or dinner. Breakfast think upscale dinner with the usual selections of eggs multiple ways, pancakes, French toast etc. All are good and coffee beans are from Caffe Luxe!! For dinner, very similar to a Houston's with an even broader range of selections. I had a burger that was excellent but my daughter had one of their Asian dishes, which she quite liked. Hard to find places with that range of selections that can actually execute well across the board. Can't go wrong here for a solid, moderately priced meal.

Fantastic Brunch spot for the whole family! Their menu is extensive, satisfying whatever cravings you may have, including a breakfast menu that's served until 2pm every day! We made a reservation 15 minutes ahead via Yelp for 2 on a Sunday around 12:30pm and were seated immediately upon arrival. Our server got our drink orders in quickly and refilled our water through out without skipping a beat. The Mocha Iced Coffee was not overly sweet in a good way and gave the right amount of energy. Now the food... heavenly! The Pork and Pancakes were very heavy, but absolutely delicious. The perfect balance of sweet, savory, meaty and saucy. Honestly the pancakes alone are worth ordering. The California Omelet was tasty as well and the hash browns were crispy on the outside, yet fluffy on the inside. Everything was seasoned and cooked well. *chefs kiss* I liked how approachable, yet upscale the restaurant felt. You can show up in jeans and a t-shirt to enjoy a hardy and affordable meal, or in a fancy dress to sip wine at the bar and eat snacks. There's plenty of free and easy parking in the lot as well, so overall a great spot for any occasion!

We eat at J Nicoles 2 or 3 times a week. Why, because the food is great and everyone is so very friendly. What else can I say. I highly recommend eating at J Nicoles. Big Frank

The food was pretty good. I got the pulled pork sandwich which was very tasty. The pepper wings were the perfect start to the meal. The service was very quick and attentive and the food came out quickly as well. The ambiance was very dimly lit I really enjoyed it.

Food quality is good Ambiance nice and clean Service was good Waitress took a while but the other helpers were around to assist. Portion size smaller for price $$$

Never been to Nichol's. Hadn't really heard about it. And I've been nearby more times than I can count. However, one night, a friend suggested it and since I didn't feel like driving far ... Another thing I appreciated, was easy parking. In a shopping plaza, hug parking lot with free parking. It's something that sticks out for me when going out in LA. Easy and or free parking. Walked in, greeted immediately. Efficient and friendly staff. Even as my friend and I just hung out after the meal, staff was attentive, offering refills and just checking on us. Food was simple and good. See pics. One dish, my salad - was missed but immediately fixed. The staff apologized which I appreciate though not really necessary as we're all human. Bringing that up as I've had encounters where staff accused me of not ordering something. I liked the vibe. The booths were comfortable and I noticed a bar where you know I'll be when I'm early and waiting for friends or family to show up the next time I'm here.

My other review was done on Labor Day. This place needed an updated review. Since that past review when I grumbled about service quality; I have visited this establishment several more times. The service has been consistently better; confirming my initial guess about people being grumpy laboring on "Labor Day." All of their food so far has been good; A solid 4. While service; at least for me, has been a solid 5. Today I had the waffle with the additional two eggs and two pieces of bacon. For some reason, I thought that's not enough food and I added an extra sausage to the mix. I was very wrong! Just the waffle with the additional of two eggs, two bacon or one sausage is plenty enough to eat. I also ordered an almond lavender latte to check it out. Everything was exactly as I expected it to be. The eggs were scrambled perfectly; cooked, but not dry. The bacon was cooked expertly without being overcooked to charcoal. The sausage was delicious; and finally, the waffle was cooked exactly like it's supposed to be. Slightly crispy outside yet a moist inside. Service was quick, competent, and with a smile. I was periodically checked on to make sure I lacked nothing. Everything was perfect. End the review ... If you're wondering why not all fives read on: So why not fives all around? Recently, I've been living in Mexico City and I've frequented lots of restaurants over there. I'm comparing apples to apples. I've had slightly better quality of everything I mentioned above. To just randomly give out fives; regardless of quality, is unfair to the people who actually perform at a five level. One of my good friends over there; Armando, is a chef. Twenty five years of experience in the kitchen. Started out washing dishes, then worked his way up to Cook, and finally Sou Chef and then Chef. He is an honest to God; French trained, Mexican Chef. I saw him start a restaurant from zero; I mean, just a room with sheet rock on the walls, to completion in five months starting in March of this year. I was there to taste some of the items for the new restaurant menu. Trying out the same dish at three, then at four, and finally at five was an an eye-opening experience. It made me appreciate the nuances. Frequently the difference was a tiny little thing. Just a little bit more/less spice, or more/less cooking time. Finishing in the oven instead of a skillet. His favorite things to make are pizza from scratch and fresh pasta from scratch. By scratch I mean starting from flour, water and nothing else. It takes a lot of work. It is not easy. He does it because he loves it. I'm not guessing; he told me flat out. He is constantly looking to learn something new and perfect what he already knows. Even after 25 years. What is for him today's five; might be a three in a few years time looking back. But when I try what is his five today I don't have a question that it is The best one I've tried. I always try to compare apples to apples. I'm never gonna compare service and food in a Taqueria to the capital Grille. I am also never afraid to admit when I was wrong.

Had a wonderful dinner at J. Nichols in Marina Del Rey with my husband. We started with the deviled eggs and black pepper chicken wings--both were delicious! The wings had the perfect amount of heat, and the deviled eggs were a great bite. For mains, we had the BLT salad and Kung Pao Cashew Chicken. The salad was fresh, and the chicken was full of flavor with just the right amount of spice. What really made our night special was our waitress, Star. She was attentive, friendly, and made sure everything was perfect from start to finish. Highly recommend J. Nichols for a casual yet elevated dining experience!

Been a regular here for years, even before the remodel. They have a great happy hour burger and fries! Staff are cool peeps, professional and friendly. I love the clean, modern casual atmosphere. I'm a plant mama and I see their plants thriving, which gives me the warm fuzzies lol. Oh, and they do lattes here which is so convenient, I can skip the trip to Coffee Bean! Very much recommend.
